When C. J. Thomas Company, Inc. was formed in October of 1975 it brought together the skills and talents of five experienced, established, insurance professionals. 1975 was one of the toughest years in the history of the property-casualty insurance business and one of the worst ever for independent agents and brokers. Many agents were being forced to merge or go out of business because their markets were pulling out, shutting down or restricting writings severely. At the same time inflation was playing havoc with the economy. The outlook for the coming months was even worse. In spite of the odds, the founders vowed to press ahead and successfully established the firm. C. J. Thomas Company, Inc. has been meeting the many challenges that constantly face an independent, customer service oriented organization for over 25 years. Through those many years and because of the strength of its roots, C. J. Thomas Company, Inc. has grown to be among the largest and most respected independently owned and operated insurance agencies in the St. Louis area.
